Q: why do volvo cars have there lights on during bright daylight?
while driving i always notice that volvo cars have there headlights on during bright daylight when being driven why is this as me an a friend was curious
A: They always have their sidelights on because it is the law in sweden! You will also see exactly the same thing with saabs & any other swedish car!
Q: Why do Volvo cars constantly have their lights on even during the daytime?
I've always found this to be a little weird and offputting especially if a Volvo is driving behind me!
A: Volvo's aren't the only ones. Many cars are manufactured this way for safety reasons. Statistically, they're involved in less accidents.
Q: volvo cars?
what does ECO mean?
A: A "Volvo Eco-Adventure" site leads to information about the "Volvo Adventure - Young People Bringing the Environment to Live".
This is a contest for a prizes up to $10,000.
"The award is for teams of two to five young people working on a practical action project that will improve their school or community environment. It is an award for ongoing environmental projects that have had a positive impact on the environment. If you are just starting out we also offer resources to help you plan and develop your project based on successful past projects. Many winners have registered one year and entered the following year.
The young people aged 13 to 16 years should be devising action plans to help their environment. You will need to show the role that young people have had in the project and the actions they have taken. Your project can focus on any environmental subject that you have found interesting. For example we have had projects focussing on:
Biodiversity – how young people help animals and plants in their community.
Waste – what young people have done to reduce waste, reuse and recycle more.
Water – how young people improved the water quality in their community or school.
Energy – how young people helped to reduce energy use or make it more sustainable.
Transport – how young people campaigned to reduce local traffic congestion.
All you have to do is register and return your entries to us. The best entries will be asked to join an international conference to present their ideas in Sweden and compete for the final prizes. All of the ideas and action plans will be published and presented to the United Nations Environment Programme.
This briefing paper has been designed to help you prepare your entry for the web site submission tool. The next section provides details of what each part of your entry should cover. You can then prepare your answers before submitting your entry on the web site. We hope this will save time when submitting projects online."
Q: What do you think about Volvo cars in general?
I have always found them to be very reliable and bulletproof.
Volvo C30 seems OK for my family right now. It is meant to be really safe.
A: Volvo's are very good cars, reliable, comfortable, and they are very understated which is nice.
However I would steer clear of the 4.4 V8, it is not as good as you might think. The diesel engines are very good, as are the smaller petrol ones.
What one are you looking at buying?
Q: do the headlights on Volvo cars come on automatically?
whenever i see a volvo... even on the sunniest day of the year... it has its headlights on! WHY!
A: simple answer they come from sweden and it is law in sweden for there to be side lights on at all times (whilst driving) as there is so many months without propper daylight thats why when you see a volvo on a lovely summers day it has its lights on. also there was talk of making this mandatory for all european cars to have this feature. but hasn't been implemented as yet.
Q: What does that little piece on top of Volvo cars do?
It is a little piece of plastic located right above the rear window on the roof of the car.
A: Re: Travis Berg LOL
The "piece" is the antenna for the GPS unit.
Q: Volvo V70 or 850 Estate Cars, What are the top of the range models?
Im looking for a large Top of the range Volvo Estate car with every extra. What models should I be looking for? ( 1995/2002) Are they as as reliable & as economical as the old 80s 740s
A: I have a V70 c.'97. It's 2.5 litre, 20 valve petrol engine (4wd and turbo versions are available). Extras can include: roof rails, spoiler, alloys, air con, CD, leather trim seats, heated seats, electric mirrors and sun-roof, heated mirrors, boot cover (a blind to cover the contents of the boot), computer (mileage, avg consumption, etc), passenger airbag (side impact protection is standard), headlamp wipers, luggage compartment net (pulls up to roof from behind rear seats) child seats in the boot space (making 7 seats).
Ours is coming up to 100,000 miles and runs well.
There can be problems with rattles from the various panels in the boot. Some of these can be cured quite cheaply by a volvo specialist (doesn't have to be authorised dealer).
Does about 27mpg (a lot of relatively short journeys, better on long runs), doesn't use much oil except on high-speed continental runs. Headlamp wipers can fail and can be costly (but can be lived without).
Q: Why in Volvo cars do they put the symbol for male on the stirring wheel?
A: This is the ancient chemical symbol for iron, symbolizing strength.
Q: What is the final answer to Volvo Cars The Hunt POTC 3 puzzle 21 World's End?
A: Volvo's aren't worth winning
Q: where can i find the technical specifications of volvo cars?
A: Start at http://www.volvo.com
Q: Why does a bright red light shine all the time on most Volvo Cars?
A: if it is in your rear veiw mirror and getting smaller it means you probably have a turbocharged car, just remember you cant outrun "motorola" if on the dash or "a piller" it is the alarm indicator
Q: Besides Volvo, what car companies have good safety features in thier cars?
A: Subaru cars are rated highly. They are also economical and reliable.
Q: Why do Volvo cars have a flat left-hand side mirror?
A: most cars do. now the right side has the mirror that say objects in mirror apear farther away .
Q: Are volvo's still good cars or are they made by Ford now?
I want to buy a nice car but don't want a lemon, all of the good cars, Jaguar, Mazda, Volvo, Range Rover are all owned by Ford now. I know Jaguar has just become the old Taurus are the other cars just as bad?
A: Hey Chris-
You, as many Answers users, seem to have a somewhat distorted view of the auto industry in general.
A Volvo is still a Volvo, and a Ford is still a Ford.
Many (if not all) Automobile Companies have interests and/or share technology with others & have done so for years.
As for Ford Motor Company, its acquisitions have included (either wholly, or controlling interests):
Volvo-since 1999
Jaguar- since 1989
Mazda - since 1988
LandRover - since 2000
Astin Martin - since 1987
These companies (also Lincoln & Mercury) have shared, technology, componants, platforms, models, etc. for years.
Ford also has alliances with many other companies, and countries.
All of those interests & alliances have benefitted from Ford & vice versa.
Jaguar especially!
Before Ford took over, Jaguars were notorious for quality & reliability problems, & have since improved tremendously.
Volvo still has an impecable safety reputation, & has shared technology with their parent company (Ford) & that has improved Fords safety.
The Ford FiveHundred is one of the safest vehicles on the road & is based on a Volvo platform.
Buy yourself a nice car, & base your buying decision on the vehicle that suits your individual needs.
