Q: What is the newest year of the Mazda RX7?
Hi I want to know what the newest yearof the mazda RX7 is because i heard that it is a great car to toon up. I plan on putting body kits on and putting turbos in if they dont come with it so please tell me which Mazda RX7 would be the best year and type to but. All feedback appreciate thanks. : )
A: They stopped importing to the US in 1995 but Mazda cut production of the RX7 in 2002. You may be able to find one after 95 but not cheap. RX-7's from 92-95 hold a good value. A 95 that runs well and looks decent will cost around $11,000 minimum. The last generation is also one of the coolest looking cars out there. They are amazing cars and are totally worth it though.
Q: what kind of motor oil should be used in a 1988 mazda rx7?
i have a 1988 mazda rx7 with 156,xxx miles. i live in california and its like a nice cool temperature. i dont know what kind of oil to be using in my car though.
A: DO NOT use synthetic oils in rotary engines. Rotary engines have an oil injection system which squirts small amounts of oil into the combustion chambers to lubricate the rotor's apex and side seals. So you need to ensure the oil is as completely burnt off as possible to prevent deposit build up. Most Synthetic oils are specifically designed to prevent burning off, exactly the opposite of what you want.
A regular 5W30 grade oil is fine. Be religious about your oil changes. Do it every 3000 miles. This ensures the oil injection system uses clean oil.
Q: A 91' mazda rx7 when I accelerate the parking brake light comes on, Any ideas?
Slow It doesn't do it, but if its fast then of course.Idle is a little rough
A: check your brake fluid, if the level is low then when you accelerate hard the fluid all goes to the back and the level doesnt read to the sensor, this is a common cause of the symptons your explaining but after you fill it up keep an eye on it, if its leaking bad you need to have your brakes checked but im almost certain this is whats happening
Q: Did anyone knows the name of company that makes the apex seal for Mazda Rx7 turbo 13b that its german name?
They say there black color.
A: Black? Sounds like possible black cermaic apex seals (race only super expensive and not streetable)
Rotary Aviation and Atkins are both great choices.
Q: A 1990 mazda rx7 with a blown water pump seal would still start up wouldn't it?
Seller says does not run because it need water pump seal. Shouldnt it still start?
A: it definately should start and run normally. i wouldn't want to run it for any length of time, but yes it would run normally.overheat and seize in 2 minutes or so but 15 seconds or something to prove it runs would not be damaging.
Q: Will Mazda Rx7 twin turbo and aftermarket parts have more hp then Rx8 with a aftermarket turbo kit and parts?
I want the fast one with more handling and more aftermarket mods that can go into the car....i am going for a fast and furious look rx7 or rx8 from tokyo drift? I WONT SPEED AND HP ABOUT or Around 500-600hp
what year for the Rx7 if i should get it?
A: The Rx-8 has a very high compression ratio for boosted applications. On top of that the computer is hard to crack. You can boost cars with high compression but ultimately the renesis's so called advantage in economy and emissions are its biggest road block to producing power.
Side ported exhaust...
The old Rx-7's have WAAAY more potential in power production than the renesis. On top of that the all the seals are optimized for boost in the 13B-REW. The side ported exhaust reduces port overlap, thus improving emmisions and economy. But in a performance engine you want the biggest ports possible without losing intake/exhaust velocity. In a Rotary, the exhaust port can be REALLY BIG.
The largest port possible on a rotary is called a peripheral port. It seals up the side port and bores a huge hole through the end of the rotor housing. ALL Rx-7's (and all rotary cars before it) came from the factory with a peripheral ported exhaust. In order to match the Rx-7's turbo loving exhaust ports, you would have to tear the engine down and send it out to get the exhaust ported. Hands down a turbo Rx-7 (or any Rx-7 for that matter) has a huge advantage over the Rx-8.
On top of that the Rx-7 has a more boost friendly compression ratio making for easier tuning.
I love the new Rx-8s but they just arent quite filling the Rx-7's shoes. And any Rx-8 owner reading this, that thinks otherwise.... You really, seriously need to just ride in a 3rd generation Rx-7. Night and Day, sorry guys but I am telling it how it is, not trying to hate on you.
Any 93-95 Rx-7 will get you what you are looking for.
Q: I just bought a1994 mazda rx7, when the car is at an idle the oil pressure is very low , but when you start to?
go it comes back up, is that normal?
A: As long as your oil pressure light isn't going on (assuming it's working) then this is normal.
The oil pump is gear driven by the motor. More RPM means more pressure.
What you're seeing is a real oil pressure guage. Many cars have a fake oil guage that is really just like an idiot light and doesn't show true pressure. If you've never had a real guage you will not be used to seeing the pressure fluctuate.
Q: Any one know a reputable shop that will do a V8 conversion to a 91 Mazda Rx7 Turbo II in NV or CA.?
I live in Reno NV I might drive to the Bay Area, But that's about my limit. I'm not really ready to do it yet but maybe in about a year or two. I'd like an LS1 or a ford 4.6 DOHC. Any info would be awsome. Thanks.
A: What you are proposing is a problem.
The Chevy Monza, circa 1973 was suppose to have a Wankel engine. But then the gas crisis hit and Chevy knew that the Wankel engine, which is a gas hog, would not be a selling point. Also the pollution standards were getting more strict and Chevy was not sure it could meet them with the Wankel engine. So they stuck in a little four cylinder engine as the base engine and a V8 for the upgrade engine. But they had a major problem. The power output shaft off a Wankel engine is at the center of the engine. On a conventional engine it is at the bottom of the engine. That made the engine swap pretty hard to do, specially for the V8 and that led to a number of problems.
1. To change the back two spark plugs you either had to lower the engine by undoing the motor mounts and using a jack to lower it OR you had to drill holes through two of the body panels in the engine compartment above those two spark plugs.
2. The car had a high center of gravity due to the elevated V8 engine. Instead of it being tucked nice and low like the Wankel, it sat high in the engine compartment.
3. The weight distribution was really bad. The original design was for an engine that weighted hundreds of pounds less. With so much weight in the front and quite a bit less in the rear, which were the drive wheels, you could smoke the tires very easily but more importantly, driving on snow or ice was very tricky with even the expansion joints on a concrete road being enough to break the traction.
4. They had to put in special metallic fiber brakes on the front to get the car to stop decently due to all the weight up front. You would go through 2 brake pads in the front for every 1 in the rear. And those front pads were NOT cheap.
5. Lastly, the gas mileage was no better than if they had stuck with the Wankel in the first place.
If you are keeping the car as a collector's car, you will ruin it with a V8. You will also create a ton of problems like the ones I mentioned above. Remember the location of the output shaft on the engine. That will take some major work to get the transmission to line up with the new V8 engine output shaft.
There are plenty of places to get a used engine in Reno and I think you could find another Wankel to put into the car.
I get my parts at Airport Auto and Truck Wrecking. (775) 825-6761
Q: How can I upgrade a rotary engine in a mazda rx7?
A: put a turbo on it
Q: why does my 87 mazda rx7 burn coolant with out having any external leaks in the system?
ok it has a rotory motor which doesnt have a head gasket its not a normal piston motor and it had a jdm motor with only 30000 miles on it
A: how much coolant? check your oil dipstick; if the oil appears grey in colour, you have a big problem (cracked head or bad head gasket). if the oil looks normal, figure out how much coolant it is using. older vehicles lose alot as they age, so as long as the oil is ok, i would either check for a cooling system leak (if its leaking alot) or ignore it
Q: my mazda 1988 mazda rx7 stalled and all the anti freeze fell out. What happened?
When I looked under the hood, steam was coming out by the engine. Is it the return hose?
A: i'm going to put my money on LOWER radiator hose is shot., and probably need to be replaced. and of course a refill of antifreeze. also smart to check on thermostat, and if any doubts, just replace it. a thermostat is cheap enough and there is no "GOOD" way to test it.
Q: mazda RX7 convertible problems!! help please?
I have a 1990 mazda RX7 convertible and the top will not go down. Does anyone know why and how to fix it. Thanks.
I really need any help!!
It's a power top. It will go up but just not down. I checked the switch but it's not not.
A: i will need a lot more information, is it power or manual top? does it do anything, unlatch, get loose, go halfway? bind up?
please elaborate, and i will try and help
Q: what is the fastest car in need for speed carbon. i have the mazda rx7?
my car isn't totally tuned up. i have completed the career mode 52%, but i haven't unlocked all the extra's.
ANY TIPS.
GREAT GAME.
i got it on thursday and have played it non stop
Lego star wars, is also another good title, for the xbox 360.
are gears of war and pes6 worth buying.
A: unless you can explain to me how a mazda rx7 is relevant to politics..........please go to a gamers forum.
Q: My son wants to buy a 1990 Mazda RX7 but am I very leery. The miles are below 100K .?
His father is out of the picture all together. He is a fulltime student & works 28 hours per week PLUS we live in the snow belt of OHIO yuck
THank you all so much.
A: Rx7's are top cars. Ive owned 3 and never had any problems with any of them, if they are treated right (warmed up before driving and regular 3000mile oil changes) the engines are great. You probably already know but the Rx7's have a rotary engine as aposed to a piston engine. Basically if you arent aware the way a rotary works is two rotors spin around in the engine where as a piston goes up and down. Rotary engines have 3 moving parts so if treated well should be more reliable than pistons but problem is most people dont so they end up getting a bad reputation.
Get a Rotary specialist to check the car, compression test is a MUST....Also watch for smoke when the car is cold, its normal for a rotary to blow a bit of blue smoke when its started but this should clear when the engine temp gets to normal.
As far as the miles being under 100k well check if there is a doccumented service history, but i imagine the price you will pay for it will be fairly low so do expect a brand new car. If your son works that much and is a full time student id say he deserves to own a sporty car.....Only downside to a Rotary is they tend to use a bit more fuel that piston engines becuase they burn exhaust gasses twice as quick but thats a small price to pay to own a great modern day classic car.
Q: Is it worth it to rebuild a mazda rx7 rotary 13b engine 1988?
A: naturally it would depend on the condition of the motor , miles , maint. , etc........but , probably not.......there are a lot of companies out there that sell remanufatured engines.....call , RHS ( Racing Head Service ) , they have a 800 # , call 800-info @ 1-800-555-1212....if they don't have one ,. they can probably tell you who does
