Q: Anyone ever replace a wheel bearing on a mazda protege 5 . My bf is having a hard time getting the old one off
any tips?
A: Is he using a puller? That would probably be the easiest way to do it. If you've got an Autozone nearby, give them a call and see what they would suggest. If they say to try a puller, you could probably borrow one from them for free, you'd just have to leave a refundable deposit.
Q: What year(s) is a ford escort transmission the same as a 1998 Mazda 1.5 liter protege transmission ?
I'm trying to find a transmission for a '98 protege 1.5 liter (dohc I4 16 valve engine). I know that some older ford escort transmissions can be swapped in, but I'm not sure about the exact year(s)...
A: 1995 Escort is the same thing as a
98 protege
Q: What is a good exhaust for my '07 mazda 3 5-door that won't be too loud inside?
I don't want it to have a raspy ricer sound outside, and I don't want it exceptionally loud inside.
A: HKS is a nice low mellow sound. Just be sure that it will fit the 07. The gas tank was moved a little so some of the systems made for 04-06 won't fit correctly.

I get the impression it will be out around May. (But don't hold me to that - I don't think an official announcement has been made.)

Q: Why is my 2000 Mazda Millenia 2.5 making a grinding noise?
I drive a 2000 Mazda Millenia 2.5 and it is making a grinding noise near the timing belt or water pump. I believe that it is the bearings in the water pump but I'm not sure. What is this and how much is this going to cost?
A: i own a repair shop, and this probably will cost around 200 for everything to get it done right and that's with using a water pump that has a life time warranty on it also,,all my labor and parts have life time warranty on them, and the labor,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
Q: how to repair wheel bearing on 02 mazda protege 5?
wheel making a loud humming sound and i'm getting a slight vibration when driving at higher speed.i have checked brakes rotors strut and steering components, just bought new tires and had them balanced and had a 4 wheel alignment. everything else is ok can anyone help?
A: the bearing has to be pressed in/out. there might be special tools made to take it out on the car, if not, then the knuckle has to be removed, and then put on a press.
if the hum was not there until you had the tires installed, i would suspect the tires. also, a bent wheel and an out of round tire can easily be balanced, but at speed you will feel it. try rotating the tires front to rear, and see if it changes. make sure you have the correct air pressure, too.
Q: does anyone know where i can find a 2003 mazda protege 5 front factory bumper?
i need to find a front bumper for my wives car, she slid on some ice and hit a snow bank, and it cracked the bumper and broke the air dam, and we're having trouble finding a factory front bumper.
thanks
A: If you are unable to find the part at a Mazda dealer, you can try to locate an aftermarket or reconditioned bumper cover from an auto collision parts store. Since I don't know where you are, you can try Keystone.
http://www.keystone-auto.com/
Keystone is the largest aftermarket automotive parts supplier in the US. Because the bumper cover is not a safety item (it provides appearance and aerodynamics, it's made out of plastic) you should not have any reservations about using an aftermarket or reconditioned part.
You will probably find that you will also save considerable money by purchasing an aftermarket or reconditioned part.
I suggest that you make an appointment with your local collision repair shop to search for parts and complete your repair. A bumper cover replacement should run in the neighborhood of $600-$800 parts/labor included.
Q: How much parts & labor for front brakes replaced on Mazda Protege 5, 2003?
A: brake pads w/o sport suspension $ 109.85
w/ sport suspension $ 97.57
labor 0.8 hrs
these prices are on oem parts good luck
Q: WhDoes anyone have a mazda 5 with 4 children in full cars seats or boosters?at would you like to ask?
I have 4 children who are all in full car seast two rear facing and two forward facing. I was thinking i could put the two rearfacing in the third row since they wouldn't need any leg room and the forward facing ones into the middle row. I just wat to know if they will fit becasue unless you have a radian rearfacing carseats are pretty massive
A: They'll fit but my first thought would be how difficult it will be to get infants out of the third row. It'd be easier on the back to unbuckle forward-facing seats in that row.
Q: Does a Mazda MX-5 Miata NC get better gas mileage with the optional (removable) hardtop?
I have a 2008 soft-top (I LOVE THIS CAR!) but wondering if a drop-on hard top would improve fuel efficiency at cruise speeds.
A: About the only thing the hardtop MIGHT do is reduce road noise a little.
You will see little to no change in gas mileage.
If you like the look of the car with the hardtop on, then do it. But don't spend that kind of money for an increase in gas mileage that isn't going to happen.
Q: I want to buy a new Mazda mx-5 Miata, but when is the best time to buy?
I want a 2008 model. And I'm looking to buy around February. How long do they generally keep the older models around before they clear out the majority to allow room for the newer ones? I for some reason keep thinking that if I wait until March or April I won't be able to get my hands on a 2008. I want to get the best deal. Tips?
A: You should buy a 2008 convertible right now; especially in the midwest where the winter is coming.
They keep the cars until they sell them.
I don't think you will be able to get this car in 2009. They are too popular and the deals right now will sell them out before the end of the year.
Q: How can I transport my 6'10" surfboard in my Mazda MX-5 without putting the roof down?
I can't seem to find a suitable rack to use and I'm tired of getting rained on while going to and from the beach. Buying a new car/shorter board are out of the question! cheers
A: put the seat all the way back & have the surf board going out both windows (use as a chin rest) & put a "wide load" sticker on the bumper...
problem solved...
