Q: How to replace the 1997 Lincoln Continental Oxygen Sensor?
1997 Lincoln Continental, 4.6L engine, V8.
How to know the locations of Oxygen Sensors, so I can replace them. Thank you.
A: There are 4 of them, the main ones are on the exhaust manifold, or the pipe that hooks to them, the 2 on the converter aren't that important
Q: How can I find a fan clutch for a 1964 Lincoln Continental?
My fan clutch recently went down on my 1964 Lincoln Continental. I bought a fan clutch but the mechanic says the holes on the fan clutch were not matching with the holes on the water pump (I believe that's what he said). Need help on how I can get this part replaced and where can I get good parts for old cars like this.
A: jay, try Auto Parts Giants.com
GOOD LUCK!!
Q: Should I replace the carburetor on my 1966 Lincoln Continental?
I own a 1966 Lincoln Continental 4dr with a 462ci v8 Engine. I was having problems starting after i gave it a tune up so I changed the fuel pump. Now it starts right up and shuts up. My carburetor has gas sitting in there and a local machanic told me its the carb. It needs to rebuilt or replace. Do u think its the carb and if so, whats my best carb to put in there? I've seen a lot of Holley and edelbrock carburetors. If thats the problem, what size carb should I be looking for?
Hopefully its a simple fix but Im prepared to replace the carburetors!
A: put an edelbrock 750 cfm. carb on it and you will be happy, I run one on a 454 chevy engine and it does a wonderful job.
Q: Can I make my 1989 Lincoln Continental thats FWD a RWD car?
I have a 1989 lincoln continental thats a V6 3.8 liter 232 cid fwd car. I would like to make it rwd but not sure if i can do that. It clearly has enough space to put the 5.0 lincoln town car engine in which is rwd and its only like 2-6 inches smaller then the town car total length. If it is possible please let me know what would all have to be done and maybe the cost. Thanks
A: That particular car was one of Ford Motor Company's WORST vehicle ever made. As big of a Ford fan as I am, I'm only being honest. Head and timing cover gasket failures (which if unrepaired led to engine failure), transmission failures, air suspension failures were very common on that car. That being said, you are far better off simply getting rid of that car, and getting into an '86 to '87 model year Continental that already came equipped with the 5.0L (302) EFI engine and RWD, if the Town Car is too big for you. It may be a bit of a search, but the money you will spend will be FAR less than what you are asking, not to mention that you will end up with a much more reliable vehicle in the end. As with all Lincolns so equipped, save up your money for when the time comes to replace your air springs. That is unless you decide to convert to conventional springs. Hope this helps.
Q: where is the thermostat located on a 1996 Lincoln Continental?
I need a detailed diagram to show me where the thermostat on my 96 Lincoln Continental is located.
A: find your top radiator hose. follow it to where it goes into the engine. where the hose stops and the engine starts you'll find the thermostat.
Q: Can anyone tell me the height of the rear bumper on a 1994 Lincoln Continental?
Is it possible that the hitch on a Ford Escape would contact the rear bumper or trunk of a 1994 Lincoln Continental. Are dimensions like this available on the web?
A: dont think so
Q: Where can I find the Electric Ignition somthing or other for a Lincoln continental 1969?

(it is located on the left side panel under the hood)

Q: Where can I find the keyless entry code on 91 Lincoln Continental Signature?
I came into possession of a 91 Lincoln Continental Signature but it didn't come with the trunk key, so I figure I'd just use the keyless entry to open it (need to start the car to use trunk release). But the previous owner has torn off the code sticker on the trunk hinge, and I opened the driver's front door panel but couldn't find it anywhere. Is it in the door panel somewhere tricky or is there anywhere else I can find it before I send it to a dealer? Thanks!
A: If you cant find it in the trunk.Open the glovebox all the way the is a module on the kick panel on the passenger side one bolt two plugs going into it.On the bottom you'll find a 5 digit code thats it or you can go to the dealer and pay 95.00 to have them pull the code..If you cant find it e-mail me and I'll try to help
Q: I want to use straight pipes on my 1973 Lincoln Continental what do you think?
I want to slightly modify my 1973 Lincoln Continental sedan with straight pipes no emission controls of any sorts and no muffler, There are no vehicle inspections in Florida, would you? I'm trying for a Musle car with class, it has been measured at 305 HP ??? Top speed 145MPH
I put about 150 miles a month on the car
A: Years ago, i saw one that had Cragars and side pipes --gave the vehicle a whole different attitude.
Q: interior lights go on in 97 lincoln continental for no reason and door says its ajar, how do i fix this?
The lights in my car go on at the most random times. I could hit the gas while driving and they go on. I just bought a 97 Lincoln Continental with 64,000 miles drives great. The lights go on and it says door ajar when the door isn't open. Any suggestions how to stop this? Also should I be using premium gas?
A: Each door,on the latch assembly, has a door ajar switch,to ground the circuit when door is ajar. The trick is to find which door has a problem, the switch itself is cheap but to replace it is not.Hard to get at.
No need to use premium gas,the engine itself has plenty of power with regular unleaded.
Q: Where can I find performance parts for my '93 lincoln continental?
Where can i find performance parts for a 1993 lincoln continental?
I'm mainly looking for 50 state legal manifolds, and Stainless steel exhaust systems, headers.
Also Is there any place that sells crate engines for lincolns?
A: Lincolns are fords. Find out what size your motor is, and look for ford performance parts, for that engine.
Q: Will the rear shocks of a 1996 ford taurus interchange with a 1996 lincoln continental?
Im trying to save some money by seeing if any other stock ford shocks will fit the 1996 lincoln continental that I have. I only need the rear because i have already replaced the front shocks and they work great. any help would be great thanks!
if the taurus wont will any other make have coil springs that would work?
i have replaced the front air bags with coils springs and they work great but the back needs the coils or is there a place where i can get tubing and a tube splitter for the back? I know that a continental that i saw had coils in the front and air bags in the back. Maybe it can be run with both and work well?
A: No sorry. The Conti shock is a specialized one and very expensive(probably why your here with that question huh?)
The 95 to present Conti is a high-tech piece of machinery, as the car has "multiplexing", which means it has a bunch of modules that communicate with each other. While you may be able to get the Taurus shock to bolt up, one of the many modules(brains) would surely see it and probably not like it(most likely a vast array of error messages).

Q: What happened to the Lincoln Continental limo JFK was riding in when he was shot?
I have heard half a dozen different stories as to what became of the Lincoln Continental limo JFK was riding in when he was shot. I heard LBJ had the car pulled from service and destroyed. I also heard it was put back into service, as well as another yarn that it was stolen. One account suggests it is in a private collection while another suggests the car is in a museum.
What's the real story? If by chance its in a real museum- what percentage of it is original, datring back to Nv 1963? The rumor regarding it being in a museum also suggests the car was gutted, rebuilt and repainted.
If it is in a museum- which museum?
A: I saw the car in the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan in 1988,but don't know if it is still there. I can't see anyone destroying a piece of history such as that.
The same museum also had the chair that Lincoln was sitting in when he was killed. I think it was on loan from another museum at the time.
Q: How do I program additional remotes for a 1993 Lincoln Continental?
I have a 1993 Lincoln Continental. I had two 'key fob' remotes, but I lost one. I found two in a junkyard (free) - one from a 1994 Continental, one from a '93 Town Car, and I bought one on eBay ($15) for a '93 Continental. They all look the same, they all have the same FCC id numbers on the back as my original. Does anyone know the process to add a transmitter to my vehicle?
A: OK get your key fobs and get in car, put key in switch , Turn switch on and off several times until you here the doors lock, Take the spar an un lock, then take the original and un lock, now if you have another one they can be done at the same time, You have to be quick, make sure when the locks un-lock leave the switch in the on position, good luck
Q: Is there any way I can mod the engine in my lincoln continental to get better gas mileage?
I have a 1996 lincoln continental that gets less about 16 miles to the gallon in the city (25 on the highway). Is there a problem with it, should it get more mileage then that? If so, how can I fix it, and if not, is there a mod I can do to get make it more efficient? Thanks
A: do the usual
make sure the tires are inflated correctly
the air filter is clean
dont do sudden stops or starts at the light
make sure everything not absolutely necessary are not being stored in the trunk
do the speed limit or a few miles under
