Q: Does anyone know how program the garage door opener on a 2006 Lincoln Navigator?
I have a brand-new 2006 Lincoln Navigator, vivid red, lost my actual garage door opener, have no idea where the so-cal "Easy Acces" user's manual is, and now the whole thing is fading. So, I just assumed that it would be easier to program the door opener then take it to Maaco, and I have a Yahoo account, so here I am, begging for help. I DID NOT buy the optional HomeLink package.

A: It's going to be hard without the real garage opener. You will need it to "teach" your car what signal to send out. Best bet is to try e-bay to try to find a opener.

Q: Is the center console of a 2006 lincoln navigator removable?
I am interested in one of these cars but dont want the console in the 2nd row. I'm wondering if these are removeable or permanent. If they can be unbolted and removed would there be an unsightly hole in the carpeting? Thanks for your help :)

A: Actually, they are quite easy to remove. Just a few nuts and bolts. As far as the holes, just buy a floor mat from the Dealer/AutoZone..... to match the original mats.

Q: I need pictures of the 2006 Lincoln navigator dashboard?
I need url's, i'm not lookin for quantity so much as quality.

A: This site has a couple shots of the dash and another two concentrating on the instrument cluster. http://www.automotive.com/2006/12/lincoln/navigator/photos/interior.html

Q: We bought a 2006 Lincoln Navigator from CarMax. The day after we bought it we noticed an oil leak.?
Car-Max is now telling us that it is an axel gasket leak. Since we have time to still return the car should we trust that it is fixed correctly or just return it. I know nothing about axel gaskets and just don't want this to be a continued problem. Thanks for any help you have!

Q: my sister has a 2006 lincoln navigator and whenever she drives it she leaves the key in and puts it in neutral
because if you put it in park, it gets stuck in park. so any way i kinda borrowed it today and accidentaly put in park and well you guessed it, its stuck... anyone know how to get it out?? dont say wiggle it or pull really hard; i tried that! thanks

A: well if the parking "paw" gets jammed, i would have someone stand behind the car and push it back and forth and you try to take it out of park while they are doing that

Q: Please help!! 2006 Lincoln Navigator running board.....?
I have a 2006 Lincoln Navigator with the power running board that is supposed to "glide out" when the doors are opened. It is now sometimes not coming out at all and when it does, it makes a horrible sound. My dealer can't get me in for service until next week. I do have knowledge of automotive repair and have done many repairs on other cars, so if you can tell me what to do I am sure I can accomplish it. Thanks!

A: its under warranty, dont touch it

Q: how do you remove the radio from a 2006 Lincoln Navigator?

A: should be under warranty and therefore you get to go the the dealer and get into the conversation with a service writer and he will probably call the "dasboard tech" to talk to you .... most of these new dash boards are snap together plastic parts that will come apart but you have to know how they were put into place so as not to break any parts for R&Replace ... go to the dealer..

Q: 2007 Lexus GX470 or 2006 Lincoln Navigator?
If these two were the same price, I'd obviously would go with the Lexus GX470 (just my opinion)...but I have 2 great deals on the table from a dealer: new 2007 Lexus GX470 for 47,000 new 2006 Lincoln Navigator (Ultimate) for 35,000 I prefer the Lexus, but the Navigator is at such a great price (on a side note, why do these Navi's depreciate so much, so fast in just one year?? 06 Lexus is still in the mid-40,000) Which one should I get? And which one would age better as I am looking to keep this for the next 8-9 years at least....

A: gas in some places 4 a gallon. go for something smaller

Q: 2006 Lincoln Navigator CD Player ??
Hi, my dad's got a 2006 Lincoln Navigator and his CD player panel lights aren't lit. The heat control section is lit, and all other buttons in the truck. Is there a light or a fuse to the cd player button lights? Are they lit? Thanks. Based on my answers that I am getting I am going to add a few details. The headlights are on, and the panel lights are on. Everything lights up except the lights on the CD player. I personally don't think they make a cd player that doesn't light up for a car these days.

A: My wife had an 06 with the same thing. So did my neighbor 6 doors from my place. It seems to be an ongoing problem with Navigators of that model year. My wife just bought a new radio. But, sadly, too many things were going wrong, so we had to buy a new one. An '07. I have an '05, so we're good...for now.

Q: 2006 Lincoln Navigator DVD?
I am trying to make a DVD for a friend who has a lincoln navigator that has a dvd player. Do you know what format I need to make the files and what could I be doing wrong?

A: ntsc format. it will only read standard dvd.

Q: which is better 24" rims or 26" rims in Lincoln navigator 2006?

A: I have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator and I am getting 24" Havoc XL rims by D'Vinci and 24"s fit best on the Navigator's because of the wheel base, with the 24"s you don't need to cut the running board or adjust anything, 26"s will come with some modifications which could run you some extra money that should not have to be spent

Q: I can't pay my car payments anymore. What do I do? Please help?
I have a 2006 Lincoln Navigator which payment are too high ($940). Plus MPG sucks too. After I miss my payments for a while what happens? Do they repo my car? And if so what happens after that? can they sue me? can they take me to court? Please Help. Any advise will be helpful thanks

A: They will repo the car if you do not pay. And, yes they will sell it and sue you for the difference. Your best bet is to sell the car on your own terms, get another job to pay for it. They will not take the car back and consider it even. Cars lose money as soon as you drive off the lot. Therefore, they will not be able to sell that car for whatever you still owe on it. Sell the car and take out a loan for difference to pay back the car financiers. Then get you a used car for cash.

Q: Is the new 2007 Lincoln MKZ getting uglier?
My wife owns a 2006 Lincoln Zeyphr, and she saw a new one, the MKZ, or something at a Lincoln Dealership when we were coming home from Kroger. So, she made me pull my Navigator into the dealership (Yes, we're Ford People, own 1 GMC). What an ugly hunk of plastic. They took a great car and completly butchered it. It's shortened about 6 inches, which elimintaes some cargo carrying room, and passenger leg room, which wasn't very plentiful on the Zeyphr to begin with, installed some primative, cheap navigation system that doesn't do crap, (and I should know primative navigation systems, I have an Envoy), took out the beautiful wood trim and replaced it with brushed aluminum that looks like it was ripped off a Maytag fridge. We took it for a test drive. It had a stiff, choppy ride, while my wife's Zeyphr rides like a dream. Also, the quote-on-quote navigation system had the simplest commands hidden underneath 10-12 layers of menus. Me and my wife left in disgust. PS: I think it's the MKZ...

A: I'm not an engineer, but I do work for Ford Motor Company and am familiar with the changes made from the 2006 Zephyr to the 2007 MKZ. The MKZ is still almost identical to the Zephyr in almost every tangible way. First, the dimensions of the vehicle aren't any different, so it's the same length with the same cargo and passenger room. Exterior changes were made to the front grille, front fascia, and the badge saying MKZ instead of Zephyr. (I actually prefer the new front end, myself... although I liked the name Zephyr.) Anyways, the interior wood trim that you have in your Zephyr is still standard on the MKZ, and it really IS very beautiful (named "Best Luxury Car Interior" at Ward's Auto Interior Show this year). The interior aluminum trim that you saw is an optional package, and I personally agree that it doesn't look quite as nice as the standard wood trim. As for the Navigation system, I'll respect your opinion despite the fact that it I've found it very helpful and with more functionality than I would ever use. It sounds like the voice-activated navigation system was in "standard" mode where it gives you a new menu prompt each time you respond with a command. This can be annoying to an experienced user... but I've found that if the system is in "advanced" mode you can tell it what you want it to do and it will just do it without prompting you 4-6 times, which is much nicer. (In my humble opinion, it sounds like you got a poor demo of the navigation system during your visit.) My understanding is that the suspension and transmission on the vehicle are exactly the same as your Zephyr, so the overall ride quality shouldn't really be any more or less stiff. However, it does have a more powerful 3.5L 263hp V6 engine, which is the only other significant difference on the vehicle. Oh, and I almost forgot... AWD is now available on MKZ too. I hope that you continue to enjoy the Zephyr. It's a great vehicle overall (just rated as a "Best Buy" by Consumer Reports in their 2007 New Car Preview), and I believe that the quality and performance will serve you well. Hopefully your initial perceptions of the MKZ don't reflect the fact that this vehicle is pretty much the same as your Zephyr, with just a few significant improvements and some new options to choose from.
