Q: lexus is300?
i am eventually planning on getting a lexus is300. im planning to add a cold air intake, headers, remus exhaust, and maybe an intercooler/supercharger. is this practical? and more importantly, is it street legal and does it meet emissions standards in southern california. is it going to be too loud and am i going to be pulled over frequently? also, what is the average cost of one from a dealership and one from a want ad(or something like that.) also, if some are street legal and meet emissions standards and some aren't, which companies make the street legal ones? also, if some are street legal and meet emissions standards and some aren't, which companies make the street legal ones? i dont know how to work an ecu/boost controller. are they the same thing? how much would the mods cost? on average

A: Just placing the car on the side, like any car. Now these days, it takes a lot to get it really modified or to obtain a good noticeable performance change. Car companies push these engines to meet emissions and squeeze every bit of power they can get and keep it drivable with good riding characteristics. No much room to improve unless you suffer from lower gas mileage, smog increase, or is not smooth running with a narrower power band. The best bang for your money is a computer reprogram. You want to make more mods that will give you more, you have to move from California, like in the Midwest, they do not have emission tests. Some has just safety inspections.

Q: How many miles does a Lexus IS300 Ussally last?
I was just thinking about buying a 2001 lexus IS300 with around 90,000 miles on it. And I was wondering how many miles does the car last? Thanks

A: Same as Toyota or Honda or Acura. It depends on how well the car is taken care of. If you listen to the owners manual and take it to every service interval, then it should last way over 200,000 miles.

Q: what type of headlight bulb does the lexus is300 use?
my car is a lexus IS300 2002, and the bulb on the right side headlight is out and i would like to know, how much it would cost to replace it?? and what type of light is it? thanks!!!

A: 4300k "D2R" Philips HID (aka Xenon) bulbs. They Cost around $79 to $99 per bulb. You can find them for $170 to 199 a pair for authentic bulbs. There may be cheaper bulbs, but they won't last as long and quality is not even close. Try EBAY. Avoid the stealership because they will charge you $200/bulb. I suggest you change both at once or else you will have "un-even" colors due to "colorshift" in the bulbs. Good luck.

I want to buy a lexus is300 but i want to know what i can expect to be paying on insurance first. Im thinking it shouldnt be to high since it is a 4dr sedan.

A: Yeah. Its gonna be pretty expensive. I remember taking a quote few months back for Lexus IS250, and I was 21 then. Insurance quote was around $850 per month ! I think you should go for some nice slick insurance deals or companies which offer cheap insurance coverages. You could try these http://test.insurer.com/car_insurance_quote.php?Y http://www.insurer.com/?Y I've found that they have all the deals at one place making insurance shopping simple.

Q: Trying to decide if should upgrade from a 1998 eclipse gs to a Lexus IS300 or just continue saving for a G35?
Ok guys heres the situation.I have A 98 mitsubishi eclispse GS. Custom lighs fron and back, with exuast and intake mods. It's getting kinda old now and well down right unreliable at times. Im planning to Buy a g35 (coupe) but i still need to save a up a bit more first. So I was looking into other cars in the mean time an found a 2001 Lexus IS300 also with intake and exhuast mods. Now, I had never really looked into sedans(whether it's sports or not) never been a big fan. Wanted to get some opinons on how it will compare to my GS. Like gas milage performance and and such. It's only a temp till I get my g35 becuase I need something to replace my eclipse. The owner is willing to let the IS300 go for just take over of payments so it's 14.4 for it it has 90k miles on it also as a note. So thats pretty much all the details the questions posed are. Whats your opinon of trading up to the IS300, How do you think IS300 compare, and even if you think i should maybe just continue to save up and keep the dying GS till I can afford the g35(which wont be still till like next year). Other car suggestions are welcome also :).

A: I wouldn't get this car. If it is just a filler car for you until you get something you really like, why waste the money on a Lexus. Buy a Honda Accord or something reliable to hold you over. 14.4 is not a great price either. I sold my 2001 with 60k on it for 19k in 2003.

Q: How reliable is a Lexus Is300?
Im looking to buy a Lexus IS300, and the only lower priced ones have over 70k miles. I know Toyotas are very reliable, but are there any problems I should be aware of?

A: Lexus vehicles are highly known for good resale value and dependability. Many people mistake reliability in place of not maintaining a vehicle. The main problems with is300s are the tires that are made for them. The tires that are made for the is 300 are low profile, agressive and wear prematurely if the vehicle has alignment problems. A four wheel alignment every year will help minimize tire problems. Another is the cd changer assembly, they are very sensitive to burnt cds and sometimes won't eject. Other than that Lexus will last a long time when serviced properly and on time.

Q: How can I turn off the maintenance light in a Lexus is300,besides taking it to the dealer?

A: Change the oil.

Q: Does a Lexus IS300 have a maf sensor or a speed density system?

Q: how long would a 2002 lexus is300 last?
Ive been looking at a 2002 lexus is300 it has 116k miles on it already. the owner claims to have it very well maintained. about how much longer will this car last?

A: You'll be fine as long as the previous owner had kept up with all scheduled maintenance intervals. The engine is remarkable! It is the 2jzge, the same engine that powered the Toyota Supra. Those engines are bulletproof! I know I have the same model and year.

I live in Brunei and we only have the 3.0l V6 with 265bhp. The body is the same as the IS350 and IS250 or the IS220d. But we don't have the IS350 or other type IS.
