A: are you parked on a hill, you may have to "rock" the vehicle to get it to shift out of park. If you are parked on a hill then most of todays vehicles require you to step on the brake pedal to shift out.

A: well 'chris s' can go F himself. don't ever listen to anybody else's opinions of your own vehicle. personally i've got an 01 kia sephia that will shock most people. there's probably some clips behind the dash that you'll need to pop your dash out from using like a screwdriver (and by dash i mean the main part that is over every gauge/button/etc). then there'll be a few screws that holds the radio directly in. just experiment a little and you'll find it.
and if you get bored check out Streetkiaz.com and be amazed......there's a few 1st gen Sephias on there too (one of which i know the owner personally who's 97 sephia wins more track races than i can count haha)

And it seems like it down shifts sometimes when Im driving it, can that have anything to do with the car only starting in Neutral?
A: you probably have a bad neutral safety switch on it,their designed to start in neutral when they go out,sometimes they can be adjusted though,and that could be an option on this one,have a shop look at it for you,they,ll know if its bad or can be adjusted,good luck with it.

The Kia Spectra is a mediocre small sedan. It has a relatively comfortable ride, quiet interior, and decent fit and finish. But overall it trails the better cars in its category. The relatively refined 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine has adequate acceleration with the automatic but unimpressive fuel economy of 25 mpg overall. The Spectra corners reluctantly. A Spectra5 hatchback is also available. The Spectra comes with standard side- and head-curtain air bags. The IIHS side-crash test has improved to marginal. Models equipped with ABS can be very hard to find.

A: You have two options. You can have the CV Boot replaced, or better yet. have a complete rebuilt Axle installed.
If all the grease has been released from the CV joint, I would go with the rebuilt axle.

Its ironic you mentioned a child seat. That is the very reason I am asking. Someone I know puts her children in the front seat and I said something about it. She "assured" me that the airbag was disabled.

A: your kia is new enough that is should have a label under the hood showing the main vacuum routings. This label may not be there if your car has had body work or parts replaced as most body shops will not replace the stickers under the hood.

i have a 96 kia sephia,, I simply removed the old plugs and installed new plugs,,i also did an oil change at the same time..the car was running fine until i put new spark plugs in it..the battery was low so i got a jump start from a friend,,but the car would not start anymore..it turns over,but no spark now,,I checked and theres no spark now?
A: change the wires too.....check idle control valve....ignition control module....cam sensor...crank sensor...ignition coil...alternator
