Q: Kia Sorrento 2003 water pump issue?
I own a 2003 Kia Sorrento and recently I was driving and the car completely died. I had it towed to the dealership and the said that the engine was gone because the water pump failed causing the timing belt to snap. Does this sound right? I feel like I am being duped. They want 4,800 to fix I also owe 7,400 on the car. The timing belt was replaced 3 months ago. Could this be their error? Does anyone know how the water pump would affect the engine? HELP ME!

A: Well, you can definitely go to an independent mechanic and knock that price down to about $3000 for an engine replacement. I would definitely get a 2nd opinion on damage to the engine, I never heard of the water pump failing causing the timing belt to break. I guess you kept driving when the temperature gauge was rising and caused the engine to seize. Another shop may also be able to rebuild the damaged engine which could save you a lot of money. I don't know if you bought the Sorrento used, but if you bought new, now you know why a loan longer then 5 years is a no no no.

A: It seems like it is burning the oil. Bad. It could be many things that causes that. Check with a mechanic fast. Or there is an oil leak.

Q: Keyless Entry Installation in 2003 Kia Sorento? Please Help!?
Hello, My 2003 Kia Sorento came without the Keyless Entry option, and we have decided that we would like to install one. Best Buy offers a Viper Keyless Entry System for $140 (Basic Installation Included)... but I found a hardware store that sells another aftermarket Keyless Entry kit that you can install yourself for much cheaper. I've never done this, nor do I know how it is done. Has anyone done this? Anyone have any advice or directions on how I can do it myself? Any advice would be very appreciated! Thanks!!

A: I myself have not done this, but my daughter is the service advisor for a KIA dealership. As it is very late here, I will contact her at work later when she's there and get your information if you still need it then. *edit* Andrew, my daughter says you need to take your key fob to a KIA dealership and let them use their computer to activate it. Hope this helps.

Q: can i use e-85 fuel in my 2003 kia sorrento or my 1990 bmw 325i?

A: No. You will destroy the motor. But you can try if you want. E85 is right wing propoganda anyways, its less efficient and mor costly but makes the GOP look like it cares about the oil peak.

Q: can i disable air bags on 2003 kia?
Passenger side .. Seddona Model

A: it is not illegal to disable any srs restraint system in any vehicle when performing service. In fact it is recommended by the factory so that the bags are not deployed while working in the vicinity causing injury or death. Get a qualified mechanic, this is not for you.

Q: Could a Kia Spectre be considered a manly car?
A black 2003 Kia Spectre. Are they good cars...on gas, insurance, etc.? By manly...I mean, gas smart, great-looking for a guy to be seen in! Sorry if some of you guys (and girls) are offended by a freaking question!

A: NO!!!! Get some american muscle.... V8. A kia manly its not even american!

Q: Upon checkin, my 2003 Kia Sentra has a bad knock sensor. Anyone knows what that knock sensor is to look like ?
I will appreciate any pictures or details of where to find it! I am not sure whether it is actually KIA or Nissan. All I know is that "kia" is the name displayed. I do know however who really manufacterd the car. I would however, appreciate any picutres or description of where to find that "Knock Sensor". Thank you! It is actually a Kia Spectra, not sentra, sorry! I am not sure whether it is actually KIA or Nissan. All I know is that "kia" is the name displayed. I do know however who really manufacterd the car. A: Kia makes cars, but Nissan makes Sentras, which is it?

Q: i have kia carnaval 2003 , problem is no signal to the injectors when run the engin , whats the solution ?

A: Best solution is that to dip your hand in your dear pocket and take the car to a garage who knows what they are doing as this is either mechanical or electrical problem and can be dangerous for yourseld and that poor family of yours who have to put up with your penny saving ideas. This certainly is not a DIY job for a novice like you trying to save penny by asking for free mechanical advice Look you could take it to the manufacturer's garage they even give you free estimate and tell you what exactly is wrong with your injection etc. and that for FREE. good luck

Q: does anyone know the ncap saftey rating for a kia schuma sx (2003 )?

A: The Kia Shuma was never tested by Euro-NCAP. Euro-NCAP don't test all cars. They test the top-selling cars in each segment in Europe, and offer manufacturers the opportunity to pay for additional tests - which many manufacturers do so that they can use the results in their advertising. The Shuma was never a top-selling car, and Kia must not have paid for it to be tested.

Q: NEWS FLASH IDIOTS - Less than 100,000 Iraqi's have been killed since 2003..most KIA by TERRORISTS???????
I'm not sure where you got that "650,000" number, but it's wrong. America has ACCIDENTALLY killed less than 3,000 Iraqi's during this entire conflict! yet you Anti-Americans, Fascisists, Communists, and Nazi's have blamed EVRYTHING ON America---9/11 included!!!!!!!!!!!!!.. Anyway, Whatever, LESS THAN 100,000 people have been killed - sure thats A LOT - but its only 1/6 of what our critics say.... I HATE LIERS!!!! MAKES ME SICK!!!!

A: And CNN has delivered reliable news since when? Just an FYI, the methodology used by the study referenced in the CNN report consisted of; a random poll of 1849 homes in Iraq- figures were then extrapolated from that poll of 1849 homes, in which they 'determined' that as many as 900,000 civilians were killed. The 650,000 figure is just some arbitrary number that they decided to throw out there. I suppose that if a large percentage of houses polled were in the most volatile area of Bagdad or Anbar Province, they may have gotten a high enough number to be able justify their figures. However, the death rate in the areas of fiercest fighting is hardly indicative of the death rate throughout the country. Give me a break, they think their figures can be in the least bit accurate in consideration to the events in Iraq with less than 1/1000 of a percent sample. A more realistic figure according to IBC based on eyewitness accounts and on line counts, puts the number at as much as 66,757 casualties or roughly a tenth of the CNN estimate. 66K is still way too many deaths but give me a break. I guess CNN's decided that since the surge seems to be working, they must find another way to show just how bad they think this war is- regardless of the facts..... -- I have included a link for the report used by CNN to 'determine' the death rate in Iraq, though it should be noted that of 629 (and yes, this is the number used to determine over 600k deaths) deaths listed in the survey, the surveyors 'forgot' to get 13% of the death certificates

Q: What do you think about the 2007 Kia Sportage?
I just happend to notice that my neighbor had bought a new Kia Sportage this morning. I went to Kia's website and checked them out. For me to get a fully loaded (even with side steps, remote start, heated side mirrors, etc. that I want) it would cost me $5,000 LESS than the fully loaded 2007 Rav4 I've been looking at. Anyone have any opinions on Kias? Are they reliable? I have never owned a Kia before. I've owned a Hyundai a few years ago and it started falling apart after three years. Do you think the same would be true with the Kia? (btw I own a 2003 Toyota Rav4 right now, base model)

A: Stick with Toyota. They have the best resale value. I have a neighbor who just bought a new Kia, it spends more time back at the dealership in service than in their driveway!

Q: What is the least expensive car that needs the least amount of maintenance from 2000-2003?
Looking for a very inexpensive, used car that doesn't need a lot of maintenance. I have a saturn and love it, but it's a 94 and needs too much $$ to fix, just too old to pump pump a grand into it. I've been pricing KIA's and saturns, but know nothing of KIA. Need a small sedan, under 5 grand. MY saturn rocks, hardly had to put any money into it, but it's old and does need some extra tlc, and someone stripped my 2nd gear. It handles extremely well in winter conditions, and right now I'm having 2nd thoughts of getting rid of it. Looking for a manual transmission.

A: Stick with saturns ...they're unbeatable ! Mine has 613,000 miles on it,My kids both have them, too.

Q: where is the fuel filter located and the fuel pump ?
on a 2003 kia rio? car wont get gas to engine from tank i think its a fuel pump or filter ? is it a esay fix if not what should i pay?

A: The fuel pump is in the gas tank and the fuel filter could be there with it.If the fuel filter is not in the tank then it will be some where just outside the tank.Look under the car find the tank look to the passenger side of the car find the fuel lines coming out of the tank follow them to the filter. The fuel pump will not be cheap so be prepared to shell out the money. Some fuel pumps go from about $180 to almost $500.You can do this at home but the tank hs to come down.

Q: Are starters covered in the average used car warranty?
There is something wrong with my car causing the engine to not turn over. It doesn't even try. No noise at all. I've narrowed the problem down to probably either a dead battery cell, a blown fuse, or the starter. Does anyone know if these things are usually covered under warranty? I just bought the car from my mom who's 1000 mi away, and dont have the info handy... It is a used 2003 Kia Rio.

A: in most cases only the drivetrain is covered in used car sales
