Q: Anyone know anything about the 2002 Kia Sportage?
I was considering purchasing a 2002 Kia Sportage...Has anyone had any experiences with this vechicle? Good or bad?
A: I bought a used 2001 Kia Sportage and am still driving it, I would NOTTTTT recommend it at all. I HATE IT, and this car is the worst thing that has ever happened to me, it has broken down multiple times. They call Kia's throw away cars because after 5 years you cannot do anything with them except throw them away. I am working on getting a new car at this time. The kia sportage is a cute looking little SUV and that's what got me sucked in, and also it is as slow as a turtle. It's a 4 cylinder, and I have to floor it to keep up with traffic on the highway and to pass people. It's your choice but I would not recommend it to anyone.
Q: how do you figure out what gasket is blown? there is brown sluge in radiator. 2002 kia sportage, 50k miles.?

A: My first question to you would be "What condition was the coolant in, and have you always changed coolant/ flushed the engine and radiator at the required intervals?".
You have not said you have any engine problems, such as overheating or coolant loss. If you have never flushed and cleaned/ replaced coolant, you'll have a brown sludge anyway!
If it's NOT overheating or losing significant coolant, I think you may be neglecting to service correctly. 50K is nothing.
Q: would a 2002 kia sportage be built better than a earlier model?
my 1998 kia had a bad heater corl leak. I just found a nother person on line asking about a heater core leak on his kia, but he didnt state what year.

Q: How do you replace a alternator on a 2002 Kia Sondona?
It is in there where it is hard to figure out if you take it out through the top or bottom. I hope someone can explain it to me.

Q: what is involved in a tune up of a 2002 Kia?
I know u replace the plugs and best to do the filters but what else do u do now days?
I do mean what do they do now for a tune up other then replace the plugs. Is there any adjustments ext... to do? like timing ?
A: you are talking about a 30,60,90,service not just a tune-up. look in your owners manual it will tell you what needs to be done at certain mileage.

There is so much stuff in the way both top and bottom.
A: You have to take the stuff off, if you cant figure it out take it to a mechanic

i have bought Kia sportage but unfortunately with out service manual or owner manual. i would like to change the spark plug by my slef because i have problem when i am starting the car every morning or after long stay. any help ????
A: I just searched "KIA", went to their site, registered to access the site(simple form), went to the "Community" tab, clicked on the "glovebox materials" (which is where the manual usually is) and voila', all manuals are supposedly the same. For the Sportage anyway. It's a PDF file (which I then was able to download and save). It should have your specs for plugs, fluid capacities, etc in it. Good Luck! :-)

we're told by one person that it is and another that it's not....
can someone tell me one way or the other?
A: The T8D is an interference engine.
The A5D/A6D Rio engine is an interference engine.
The FE3 Sportage engine is a non-interference engine
Q: How to fix a lighter in a 2002 KIA Sportage?
A: first ck all fuse if they are good use a test light to see if you lighter socket has power if it does it may just be the element that need replaced if not you will have to remove astray locate screws then remove trim from around radio and hearter and ck wires to lighter assy.
Q: How do you bleed the brakes on a 2002 Kia Sportage?
A: If you have ABS then there is a certain order you have to do it and will take two people sorry do not have the order
